There are many Montana ski resorts, but some stand out more than others. There are many things to take into consideration when you are deciding which ski resort to go to for your next winter getaway. In this article I will outline two Montana ski resorts that really stand out from the crowd. They go above and beyond with what they have to offer, their location, boarding, tourism and much more. And believe it or not, they are both on the same mountain!
The two resorts are Big Sky resort, and Moonlight Basin. The two resorts are located on Lone Peak, part of the mountain landscape in southwestern Montana. Getting there is easy. There are more than 25 flights a day that arrive to the nearby town of Bozeman. From there, rental cars are available. It’s about a forty minute drive from the airport to Big Sky and Moonlight Basin.
Biggest Skiing in America
One claim to fame for these two Montana ski resorts is that they have combined their ski slopes for a special package that actually is the largest square acreage of skiing terrain in the US. They call it Biggest Skiing in America. Combined, they have over 5,532 acres of ski hills for you downhill thrill seekers.
Both resorts offer skiing and snowboarding lessons should you have someone in your group that is less experienced. The lodging is also quite amazing. You have a breathtaking view of the mountain side from your luxurious room. All of Moonlight Basins’ rooms feature hot tubs, kitchens, and roomy floor plans. Big Sky resort has alpine cabins also with full kitchens, and their village has in total over 800 hotel rooms, suites, condos and cabins.
There is dining and shopping galore in the village and more than 30 restaurants! There are bars, plenty of live music, and even a movie theatre! Both resorts have their own spa just steps from the slopes. After a long day of skiing you can relax and rejuvenate with perhaps a scrub, body wrap, or soothing massage. There are several stores and shops that offer anything you may need. Having trouble with a piece of ski equipment? You can have it repaired at the Big Sky Repair Shop, who offers overnight tuning and repairs for skis and snowboards. Or, pick up a new piece of equipment at The Board Room.
